Join local educational and corporate leaders and the Microsoft and Discovery Education teams for a one-day collaborative event to explore and share how AI tools like ChatGPT and other new and everchanging innovations are affecting our educational landscape.

This event will feature panelists from local districts, industry partners from STEM Careers Coalition Powered by Discovery Education, and more; exploring exciting conversations specifically curated for District Superintendents, CAOs, C&I, and other district leaders. Attendees will have the opportunity to share ideas and hear how local district leaders and organizations are navigating these evolutions in a way that positively impacts the future of teaching and learning on our students.

Jackie Smalls

Vice President of Social Impact, Discovery Education

As a national education leader specializing in STEM K-12 education, Jackie Smalls is responsible for strategic growth and impact of multi-sector partnerships on critical issues in K-12 education. Currently, this includes the STEM Careers Coalition (SCC)™ by corporate and non-profit leaders anchored in schools by Discovery Education. The SCC is a network of industry partners committed to bringing learning resources into core instruction for educator and student exploration of STEM Careers and to inspire the next generation STEM workforce. Jackie served as Chief Program Officer at Code.org focused on K-12 Computer Science Education and continues to serve on Code.org’s Board of Directors. She has held various instructional and leadership roles in public education as part of the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County Public School systems. She was on the writing team responsible for developing national K-12 Next Generation Science Standards and served in the United States Army as an Environmental Science Officer where she developed a passion for STEM.

Superintendent, Anne Arundel County Public Schools

Dr. Bedell began a four-year term as Superintendent of Anne Arundel County Public Schools on July 1, 2022. He assumed the leadership of Maryland’s fourth largest school district after spending six years as Superintendent of Kansas City Public Schools. Dr. Bedell is a talented, caring teacher, administrator and proven public school leader with a track record of success in urban districts. In 2022, he led Kansas City Public Schools to full accreditation status for the first time in more than 20 years. Dr. Bedell has received many recognitions, including being named a “Superintendent to Watch” by the National School Public Relations Association and a “New Superintendent of the Year” by the Missouri Association of School Administrators. Additionally, Dr. Bedell was a 2020 finalist for the Green-Garner Award, the top honor for urban school leaders across the country.

There is no registration fee for participating in this event. You do, however, need to register in advance as space is limited.

Although you are not required to bring anything, it is recommended that you bring a charged laptop.

Will there be a meal break or refreshments provided?

There will be light breakfast available upon arrival and lunch will be served for attendees during a scheduled meal break. More details will be available soon.
